It doesn't have to be painful to make and maintain a webpage.

With a few minutes and a little currency, you can put whatever you'd like on the public Internet.

Most webpages are a combination of three things: The content, the host, and the domain name.

Step 1: Content

To have the highest chance of success, let's begin with very simple example content, like this:

Hello, world! Welcome to my webpage.
It's not much yet, but every great project starts small!

Step 2: Hosting

Everyday personal computers are not ideal for websites, becuase they don't necessarily stay powered on and connected to the Internet every minute of every day.

That's where professional web hosts come in. You pay a web host to access one or more of their computers, which they promise to keep on and connected to the Internet, at the same address.

There are many web hosts, and many ways to make a webpage. This is just my way. I like to use NearlyFreeSpeech, a low-cost host in operation for over twenty years.

  2. Confirm your email address.
  3. Create your personal bandwidth account
  4. Add some funds to the account.
  5. Create a new site.
